Stan Szalewicz, Tenor, 1955-2010
Stan Szalewicz was an Associate Professor-Librarian at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton. He held an M.A. degree in Organ Performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Library Science degree with specialization in Music Librarianship from Indiana University, Bloomington. Because of his knowledge of choral repertoire and ready access to Westminster’s resources, Stan served as Caritas' repertoire consultant, advising Barbara Sanderman in the selection of music for Caritas concerts since the group’s inception.
From 2001 until his passing in 2010, he was Organist of First Presbyterian Church of Plainsboro and also played at other churches in Mercer County. A charter member of the Capital Singers of Trenton, Stan was also the ensemble's reference librarian. He was active in the Trenton Diocesan Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians and was an independent member of the American Guild of Organists.
Stan’s most memorable experience was a performance of John Rutter’s Gaelic Blessing during afternoon tea with Great Britain’s Queen Mother Elizabeth at the Royal School of Church Music, Croydon, England, in July 1982.
