Loretta Fois, Alto

Loretta Di Bianca Fois was born in New York, has lived in both the United States and Italy. She currently resides in Branchburg, NJ with her husband and three children. She received her M.F.A. in Dance from The Ohio State University and her B.A. in Theatre/Chemistry from The College of the Holy Cross.

Loretta has sung with the folk group at Our Lady of the Mount in Warren, NJ, cantored with the Umoja Imani Songsters at St. Matthias in Somerset, and was a soloist with I Soul Singers in Rome, Italy. Initially involved in musical theatre, she came into the New York/New Jersey dance scene (in the 1980s) where she continues to perform. As a performing artist/choreographer, her passion for movement and voice is a prominent feature in her work, and she combines song, word, gesture and theater to create original performance art pieces. She has been the recipient of a number of grants and was thrilled to receive a 2017 and 2011 Choreography Fellowship from the NJ State Council on the Arts.

Loretta is an Associate Professor and Director of the Dance program at Raritan Valley Community College, Artistic Director of Puppe'n'Dance, and currently serves as the Vice President of Education for Dance New Jersey. She spent ten years as a teaching artist for NJ Department of Education, served as an Artist in Residence for the Paper Mill Playhouse Outreach program, and has served on faculty at Mason Gross School of the Arts, City University of New York, Ohio State University, Union County College, and New Jersey School of Ballet. Loretta spent her sabbatical years (2011-2013) in Rome, Italy studying Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a method of learning musical concepts through movement. She is delighted to be singing with Caritas.
