John Collins, Bass

John has been singing in choirs and choruses around the New York City area for forty-two years since graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York. During his college years, John sang in the All-City College Chorus at both the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the then Philharmonic Hall at Lincoln Center. John was a member of the Brooklyn Diocesan Choir from its founding in 1982 through 2005 when he moved to New Jersey. During that time the choir sang for Pope John Paul II twice: first when it journeyed to Rome on a Diocesan pilgrimage where it sang at the general papal audience and then at an outdoor Mass at the Vatican celebrated by the Pope; and the second time at Aqueduct Racetrack for the Papal Mass during the Pope’s visit to the United States. John also sang with the New York Archdiocesan Festival Choir and the Metuchen Diocesan Choir (the latter with which he joined in a second diocesan pilgrimage to Rome, Italy). John is currently a member of the Morris Choral Society which made a choral tour of Germany in the summer of 2008 and performed the Beethoven 9th Symphony with the Colonial Symphony Orchestra at the Community Theatre in Morristown the same year. John was a cantor and member of the parish choir at St. Luke’s Church in Whitestone, New York for 30 years and currently is a proud member of the parish choir at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater, NJ.
