John Collins, Bass
John has been singing in choirs and choruses around the New York City area for more than 44 years since graduating with a BA in Music from Hunter College of the City University of NY. During his college years, John sang in the All-City College Chorus at both the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Philharmonic Hall at Lincoln Center.
John was a member of the Brooklyn Diocesan Choir which performed for Pope John Paul II three times: first on a Diocesan pilgrimage to Rome where the choir sang at the general papal audience; second at an outdoor Mass at the Vatican celebrated by the Pope; and for a third time at Aqueduct Racetrack in NY for the Papal Mass during the Pope’s US visit. John also sang with the Brooklyn Philharmonia Chorus, the New York Archdiocesan Festival Choir and the Metuchen Diocesan Choir (with which he made a second diocesan pilgrimage to Rome, Italy). For 30 years, he was a cantor and member of the parish choir at St. Luke’s Church in Whitestone, NY.
John is currently a member of the Morris Choral Society which toured Germany in 2008 and performed the Beethoven 9th Symphony with the Colonial Symphony Orchestra in Morristown the same year. He is a member of Express Male, a barbershop sextet located in Morristown, NJ. John is also a proud member of the parish choir at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville, NJ.
